I want to use a Canon 540EZ and 580EX flash units as a Master and Slave with my Canon EOS 40D. How do I sync the two flashes to use one as a Master and the other as a Slave? And which one should be the Master (with what specific settings) and which should be the Slave (with what specific settings).

40D is not compatible with EZ flash units. You can only mount EX flash units on 40D. I’m not sure you can trigger a EZ flash from a EX flash. You can try to set the 580EX which is on the camera to master and 540EZ to slave.

The gorrilapod (the one that bends like a rubber claw) looks pretty cool but I don’t know if it’s reliable, but people say to stick with what has been used before. For a regular college kid who takes long exposures with small aperatures and low ISO’s. Thank you.
I probably wouldn’t. Being a regular college kid, I’d look for some used Bogen/Manfrotto tripod legs and a head over the Gorillapod. I see KEH has the 3001 legs and 3047 head for $89. I’d go that route over a gorillapod.

This is a little video made of images taken with Canon EOS 40D and Tamron 28-75 F2.8 zoom lens.
No flash was user. Almost every image, what you see is “as is”. Some of images have urgly pixalization. I have no idea why it happens so.

can u tell me if i did the right thing coz i only paid $1129 for the body kit with 28-135mm lens.. they have very high ratings.. do you think they are seelling original goods? because they are CNET certified store.. and canon retailers.. im scared that if i there is problem, canon might not consider its 1 yr warranty..

The camera you purchased has a full Canon warranty.
Perhaps the price seems lower than you were expecting because Canon currently has an instant rebate program running (through mid July) that reduces the price of 40D by $200.
