So I want to upgrade to a digital SLR camera and need to decide which one?

Monday Dec 28, 2009

Based on my current financial situation and my love of all things canon I have been trying to decided between the eos 40d and the rebel xsi , any suggestions?

The Canon 40d is much better, by all means. Don’t mind that it only has ten megapixels!, that really does not matter. Trust me, you can make A4 size prints with 10 megapixels. This camera also have a Magesium Alloy body, it shoots twice as fast, and is all together better build. This, along with other things, is why the 40d is so much more expensive than the Rebel XSI camera. In the long run, you will be much happier with the Canon EOS 40d. Also, you will be much happier with the performance at Higher ISO. Get the 40d, there is no need to elaborate.

Amazingly, the XSI resolution trumps that of the 40D, and its high iso performance is really similar. What you get for the 40D is a way better magnesium alloy body, faster (6.5 fps) continuos shooting, better ergonomics, and a better choice of kit lenses. Overall, I’d say go for the XSI, and save your money for better lenses.

I’d have to say go with the rebel. The name is cooler and more importantly, I’ve heard it takes better pictures. Normally I’d recommend you go with a nikkon, but if you love all things cannon, you know what brand you like already and there really is no one best camera for everyone to use. If you get any really awesome pictures, check out the HD wireless digital frames they sell at Ceiva. http://snurl.com/98odw
